Monumental vintage crucifix from a former French church
A truly impressive religious wall sculpture with a unique, historic charm. This monumental crucifix was purchased at an antique auction and, according to tradition, is said to have come from an old French church. Standing a full 300 cm tall and 185 cm wide, it is an imposing focal point that adds character to virtually any space.
The large dark brown wooden cross provides a beautiful contrast to the off-white statue of Jesus. The detailed design, the crown of thorns, the expressive facial expression, and the carefully rendered folds give the statue an authentic and moving appearance. Above Jesus is the characteristic plaque bearing the inscription I.N.R.J.
Jesus is crafted from hard resin and features a warm, slightly weathered finish. This gives the statue the appearance of a classic ecclesiastical work of art. It is an antique or vintage object and bears visible signs of use and age. It is precisely these imperfections that emphasize its unique character and presumed ecclesiastical history.
