The cast iron surfaces of these fittings (long plates) were coated with a moisture-repellent protective layer. If nothing is done, they begin to rust after a time.
Therefore, the handles and door plates of this set should be regularly treated with polishing wax. This forms a film and prevents the natural oxidation of the antique iron and the condition remains permanently good, and it also looks much better!!!
