A CAMEO GLASS VASE "WINTER LANDSCAPE"

The cameo technique originated with the Romans. In order to have more and more beautiful showpieces in their home and to impress others, they experimented with new techniques. One of these was a new technique of glass blowing that would later become known as the development of cameo glass. A basic piece of glass was assumed and coated with one additional layer of glass in a different color. Often multiple layers of glass and multiple colors were layered on top of each other. The result was a product that could be cut to create a decorative scene. By cutting the glass, the underlying colors of glass came into view again and a colorful performance could be created. In addition to the Cameo glass technique, this technique is also called Glass carving.
This vase depicts a winter landscape, very beautiful and can also be used as a candle holder.
